Embracing the Western Way
Welcome to Buckle and Boot! My journey into the heart of the western lifestyle began not on a ranch, but on the big screen. Western movies always captivated my imagination, transporting me to a world where courage, determination, and rugged individualism reigned supreme. But the day that truly set my boots on this path was a memorable visit to Fort Worth, Texas. It was there, amid the dust and thrill of a rodeo, and the rhythmic beats of line dancing, that I felt the irresistible call of the cowboy life.
Returning home to New Jersey, my passion only grew, but I faced a challenge: How does one even begin to become a cowboy in the Garden State? Finding guidance was no easy feat. The journey took me from farm to farm, searching for that seasoned cowboy who could show me the ropes. My hunger for knowledge and the lack of online resources led me to create Buckle and Boot. This blog is for everyone, whether you're curious about the western way of life, looking to compete in rodeo sports, or just hunting for the perfect cowboy hat.
Today, I train and compete in Tie Down and Team Roping at the esteemed Dun Hollow Stables. And for those looking to introduce the younger generation to the cowboy spirit, I've written a children's book, Till Your Feet Bleed. This tale is more than just a story; it's a testament to American values like hard work, courage, determination, and honoring our veterans.
But beyond the rodeos, the gear, and the stables, at the heart of Buckle and Boot lies a dedication to cowboy values. Cowboys epitomize dedication; they're up with the dawn and only rest when the horizon swallows the sun. A cowboy's word is his bond. They cherish the simplicity and find joy in the smallest pleasures, proving that persistence in the face of adversity is the true cowboy way. No matter where you come from or what you do, there's a little bit of cowboy in all of us. And I believe that embracing these values can lead us to richer, more fulfilling lives.
